"Art of the State" LYRICS

All Creation Sings
by Kerry Livgren

Dreaming awake as I'm lying down,
Gazing at starlit skies
The feeling grows as my wonder shows,
Trying to crystallize
The wind in the trees is a melody,
Just like me, yearning to harmonize

The rivers speak and the waters cry,
Wanting to hear Your name
Deep in the bowels of an ancient earth,
Groaning to be reclaimed
Anticipating the grand return,
Crying out for the page to turn
I want to know as I am known
And see You as You are
Every knee will bow,
And all will proclaim

All creation sings, hail the King of kings
All creation sings, to the glory of Your name

Joy at the end of the great decline,
For all who will heed Your call
An end to the sin and an end to the pain,
You will restore us all
We're sons of dust in the Son of Man,
Chosen long e'er the world began

I want to know as I am known
And see You as You are
Every knee will bow,
And all will proclaim

All creation sings, hail the King of kings
All creation sings,
Now we lift our hands in praise,
Such an anthem we will raise,
When Your kingdom comes to earth

We Are The Men
by Kerry Livgren

Why did you do it? Who put you to it?
If I was in your place it's easy to say
It might be different than it is today

OH! We are the men
OH! We are the men

Walking together, cool of the garden
From a rib came a woman and she was deceived,
Now we're the race of the ill conceived

OH! We are the men
OH! We are the men

Long time, since we turned to our own way
Sure sign, that we've all gone wrong
Decline, since the beginning

With the first and the last we can overcome the past

Billions of faces, showing the traces
From the one man's sin everybody died
Plunged into sin, because the serpent lied

OH! We are the men
OH! We are the men

We are men, we are the men!

Lead Me to Reason
by Michael Gleason

Deep in the heart is a creature of deception
Lying in wait to deceive me again
Fighting the feeling and failing to win
Where do I begin?
Over and over I silently scream
This must be a dream

Only Your face will lead me to reason
Just one embrace to carry me through
Only Your grace will keep me from treason now

My head is reeling in the wake of delusion
Left to myself, I'm so quickly undone
Wayward I wander again and again
Still haunted by sin
Who will deliver the unreconciled,
The prodigal child?

Only Your face will lead me to reason
Just one embrace to carry me through
Only Your grace will keep me from treason now

I can't begin to account for my condition
Questions with answers I just can't explain
Utterly helpless and nothing to do
I'm lost without You
Bury the old man and raise up the new
When his time is due

Only Your face will lead me to reason
Just one embrace to carry me through
Only Your grace will keep me from treason now

The Only Way to Have a Friend
by Kerry Livgren

Deep in every heart there's a desire
Just to be accepted as we are
Everybody needs to know that he's wanted
But everybody's always wanting more

The Son of God came down to be a servant
The world did not receive Him as a King
And if we take the Lord as our example
It ain't how much you get, it's what you bring

You got to show somebody your salvation
Show someone the mercy you've been shown
And if you heed the very first commandment
You'll take your brothers burdens as your own

The only way to have a friend is to be one

If men could see our faith turned into action
The way the Lord intended it to be
If flesh and blood were dying in the Spirit
Then Jesus would be plain for all to see

The words of our own mouths will be our judgment
The measure that we use will be returned
We hear the Word but how much do we do it?
We hear the Word but how much have we learned?

The only way to have a friend is to be one

You got to show somebody your salvation
Show someone the mercy you've been shown
And if you heed the very first commandment
You'll take your brothers burdens as your own

Games Of Chance And Circumstance
by Michael Gleason

Where have all the children gone?
Who will hear their silent song
Many never cry the tears nor learn the infant dance
Mother, won't you keep your young
Or are they in the balance hung
On games of chance and circumstance?
O, save the children!

And a cry of desperation is rising up in all the land
When the cold wind blows the helpless suffer the sin

Some will only see the grave
Who will care enough to save?
Or is the heart become too hard to love the little ones?
Mother, won't you keep your young
Or are they in the balance hung
On games of chance and circumstance?
O, save the children!

And a cry of desperation is rising up in all the land
When the cold wind blows the helpless suffer the sin

Mother, is your blood running cold?
You don't care to pay the price
The innocent have never been told
They will be the sacrifice

And a cry of desperation is rising up in all the land
When the cold wind blows the helpless suffer the sin

Some will end in tragedy
Some will never be set free
From games of chance and circumstance
O, God, save the children!

The Fury
by Kerry Livgren

Where is the promise of His coming?
All things continue just as we desire
They have forgotten the ancient world
So once by water, now by fire

After seven years, No more tears

The fury waits above the sky
The Lord of hosts will purify
On wings of fire He will appear
As the end is drawing near

And if those days had not been shortened
No flesh would survive
He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked
But with their sin He will not strive

After seven years, No more tears

The fury waits above the sky
The Lord of hosts will purify
And His redeemed are justified
Their blood avenged and satisfied

The fury

Progress
by Kerry Livgren

So they say it's getting better now,
And we're climbing ever higher up the scale
Soon controlling all conceivable solutions,
No one notices that all our efforts fail

Progress, we are marching backward
Progress, as the captains of our fate
Progress, as we spiral downward
Progress, we defile and we desecrate

Calculating every possible obstruction,
Have to sacrifice a few along the way
Devolution from genetic degradation,
Separation from Creator brought decay

Progress, we are marching backward
Progress, as the captains of our fate
Progress, as we spiral downward
Progress, we destroy and we annihilate

Ideologies, moralities are passé,
It's said the concept of religion's obsolete
Something's missing in our picture of the future,
It seems our latest observations' incomplete

Progress, we are marching backward
Progress, as the captains of our fate
Progress, as we spiral downward
Progress, we entangle and we complicate

Heartland
by Michael Gleason

Far from the clamor and confusion we live in
There lies a refuge from the threatening tide
A cool oasis in the heat of the desert
A resurrection from this graveyard of pride

And if you tell me it's just imagination
I won't believe it 'cause my heart tells me this is for real
The revelry and the fascination
When destiny draws near
I'm standing on the last frontier

This is the heartland

Amid the din and desolation I feel it
In spite of all the indecision and fear
Hope for the hopeless and a rest for the weary
Deep in the heartland where the vision is clear

Now after all of the years of resignation
Of endless agonizing over the things yet unknown
The revelry and the fascination
When destiny draws near
I'm standing on the last frontier

This is the heartland

And if you tell me it's just imagination
I won't believe it 'cause my heart tells me this is for real
The revelry and the fascination
Then destiny draws near
The future holds no fear
The heartland is the last frontier

Zion
by Warren Ham and Kerry Livgren

You lie between mountains and hills known of old
The desert is green all around you,
Your enemies come from without and within,
Seen and unseen they surround you

Zion is coming ISRAEL,
Children of Promise soon fulfilled,

The Kingdom's coming ISRAEL,
It's Yeshua, Emmanuel, He is the One you've waited for

In the desert you wandered, in the nations dispersed,
But you will return to Moriah,
As you gaze upon He who was pierced,
You will mourn an only Son your Messiah

Zion is coming ISRAEL,
Children of Promise soon fulfilled,

The Kingdom's coming ISRAEL,
It's Yeshua, Emmanuel, He is the One you've waited for

Up From the Wasteland
by Kerry Livgren

The traces of tears disappear in the desert
Where hot winds blow
The touch of a conscience is lost in the ice and snow
Ghosts of great cities, ruins of empires their spectres arise
No sign of the living beneath these skies

Minutes are passing, they turn into hours
The hours, they drift into days
O, Redeemer, lift us above this maze

Up from the wasteland, like a dream
Long forgotten reappearing,
Up from the wasteland
Now redeemed, from a winter bleak and weary

Dry bones collected, connected by sinews
Stand as an army of men
Filled with the Spirit, they enter this world again

Its glorious light, or grey desolation
The lines of the battle are drawn
Jehovah, the rock that we stand upon

Up from the wasteland,
We are drawn, to a glory never ending
Up from the wasteland
By His hand, our iniquity transcending

All our enemies beneath His feet
No height, nor depth, nor life, or death
Can take us away from His love
